Other Operators' Tickets

Which tickets can be used with Lumo?

Lumo Specific Tickets

At Lumo, we believe our cheap train tickets offer great value fares, but we realise that you may occasionally need to use our services via another operator. If you’ve bought your fare with us, it will clearly state “Lumo Only” or “AP Lumo Only” on the ticket.

At your time of purchase, you'll be given a list of times and train operators that your ticket is valid on. If there is only one operator available, it will display just the one in the dropdown, such as LNER. If it states, 'multiple operators', more than one train company covers your chosen route.

Tickets for use on any operator, including Lumo

We’ll happily welcome you on board our train if you are travelling between stations that we serve, or where your origin or destination is usually reached by changing at one of our stations.

Tickets accepted on our service will typically show a route which states “Any Permitted” or “Via York (or another station name)”, provided the train passes through that station. The only exception is where the ticket has been sold for use on another operator only.

While tickets sold by other operators can be flexible, we don’t set these fares, and they are typically more expensive than Lumo tickets. Some of these tickets will also have time restrictions that unfortunately need to be followed.

Of course, if you find any cheaper train tickets from other providers, be sure to contact us and we will look to beat that price!

Tickets not valid on Lumo

Just like Lumo, some other operators sell tickets which can only be used on their trains. If you have one of these, you either need to travel with the rail operator specified or buy a new train ticket with Lumo.

If you want to take advantage of our travel deals and great value train fares but have already bought a ticket for another operator, check with the original retailer to see if you can get a refund.

Remember, we do sell train tickets for other operators, you just need to check which services you can use. If you’re not sure, just have a quick chat with one of our Customer Experience Ambassadors before you board our train. They’ll let you know whether your ticket can be used with us.
