Lumo, the leading open access rail operator, has joined forces with Visit Glasgow to showcase the best places to eat, drink, explore and stay in the city during Scottish Tourism Month.
Broadcaster Emil Franchi, an exciting new talent well known for his shows on BBC Radio 1 and popular social media following, has created a range of content for Lumo and Visit Glasgow’s social channels.

Scottish Tourism Month is an opportunity to amplify the importance of tourism, celebrating its contribution to Scotland. Lumo makes it easy to visit Edinburgh, Falkirk and Glasgow, providing affordable and direct daily services from the North East of England and London. Customers can travel on 100% electric trains, which are 25 times cleaner than flying.
The newly released video sees Emil start his day by arriving at Glasgow Queen Street Station, before travelling to the thrilling Pinkston Watersports in the city – the home of Scotland’s only artificial whitewater course. Here Emil tries whitewater tubing, an adrenaline fuelled activity that’s particularly popular with those visiting the city for a stag or hen do.
One of the city’s best hidden gems, The Last Bookstore, is also showcased in the video as Emil enjoys a haven for book worms, food lovers and cocktail aficionados. He then visits The Kelvingrove Museum, Scotland’s most visited free tourist attraction, which is home to an incredible 22 galleries featuring art, animals, Ancient Egypt and much more.
Viewers of the Scottish Tourism Month content are also treated to an exclusive glimpse of the luxurious Dakota Hotel on West Regent Street, offering impeccable service, luxury rooms and fine dining in the city centre.
Richard Salkeld, Director of Communications and Partnerships at Lumo, said: “We added Glasgow to our popular route on the East Coast during December last year and we’re thrilled with the response from those travelling to and from this vibrant city. Scottish Tourism Month is the perfect opportunity to encourage even more people to visit Glasgow and experience the diverse mix of food, drink, activities and places to stay it has to offer. We’ve also been excited to celebrate the Glasgow International Comedy Festival taking place during March.
“I’d like to thank Visit Glasgow for supporting us with creating this fun and original content helping showcase a small part of what Glasgow has to offer.”

Emil Franchi, host of Lumo’s Scottish Tourism Month content, added: “Lumo, like myself are proudly from the North East so being able to use their quick service from London to get home or visit two cities I love in Edinburgh or Glasgow is always a joy.
“The best part about visiting Scotland is that each time I leave with a love of a new place I’ve visited. Hopefully this content shows how much you can do in just a short trip!”
Aileen Crawford, Head of Tourism & Conventions at Glasgow Convention Bureau, said: “Scottish Tourism Month is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Glasgow such a vibrant and welcoming destination. From our world-class cultural attractions and unique experiences to our outstanding food and drink scene, the city has something for every visitor.
“Partnerships like this with Lumo help us showcase Glasgow to new audiences and make it easier than ever for people to discover all that the city has to offer.”
Lumo operates services to and from Glasgow Queen Street with fares from Newcastle from £14.90 and £41.90 from London King’s Cross.
