Lumo surprises customers with special onboard performance for Radio 2 in the Park festival-goers

Leading open access rail operator Lumo has surprised festival-goers heading to Radio 2 in the Park this weekend onboard the 10:19 service from London Euston to Stirling with a special onboard performance.

Lee Egerton, a Preston-based singer-songwriter, performed hits from a variety of artists taking to the stage in Stirling this weekend, including Simple Minds, ABC, James Blunt, The Script and Chaka Khan.

Lumo launched its West Coast Main Line services earlier this year, creating around 100 new jobs with a new rail base in Preston. The route links London Euston with Stirling, calling at Milton Keynes, Nuneaton, Crewe, Preston, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Whifflet, Greenfaulds and Larbert.

Richard Salkeld, Director of Communications and Partnerships at Lumo, commented: “BBC Radio 2 in the Park is a very special moment for Stirling, a community we’re proud to serve with our new West Coast service. We’re based in Preston, so it seemed only right that we celebrated the festival with a performance from a brilliant local talent.

Lee Egerton, who performed onboard, added: “When Lumo asked me to get involved with their celebrations for Radio 2 in the Park I just had to say yes. Performing on a train was definitely a first for me, but after the response from Lumo’s customers, I hope it won’t be the last time. It’s great to see a local company supporting local people like myself.”

Lumo recently scored an impressive 90% overall customer satisfaction score in the Rail Customer Experience Survey (RCXS), placing the operator firmly among the three highest-performing long-distance train operators for the period covering October 2025 to March 2026. Lumo was also top of the league table for value for money
