The pioneering open access operator Lumo has announced that members of its team will take on the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this year in memory of colleague Kieran Dunlop and to celebrate the company’s new charity partnership with Brainstrust.
Lumo Customer Experience Ambassador Instructor, Kieran lost his battle with brain cancer in February this year. He’d been with Lumo since May 2021 having previously worked elsewhere in the travel sector with Grand Central Rail, Thomas Cook and as Cabin Crew with Jet2.
Danielle Daglish, Customer Experience Team Manager at Lumo and one of Kieran’s close friends is extremely passionate about making a difference. She said: “It’s been an awful time for Kieran’s family and all of his friends and colleagues. Nothing can replace him, but any small difference we can make to support Brainstrust is so valuable. I’m excited about the Three Peaks Challenge and determined to smash it for Kieran.”
Jen Clare, Service Delivery Director at Lumo, said: “Everyone at Lumo was devasted to lose our beloved colleague and friend Kieran to brain cancer in February this year. Life can be incredibly cruel at times. Kieran had so much of his life still to lead and so much to do. His loss has impacted the whole organisation and we’re keen to do everything we can to honour his memory and raise money for the Brainstrust.
“Announcing Brainstrust as our charity partner for the year was an easy decision, given our emotional connection. The work they do as an organisation is vital and really does make a difference to lives.
“We’re creating and supporting a range of key activities with them throughout the year, but the big one is the Three Peaks Challenge. This is no mean feat for our colleagues getting involved. We're encouraging as many people as we can to support the initiative and we’ve also set up a dedicated JustGiving page.”
Stephanie Coffey, Senior Fundraising Officer at Brainstrust added: “It’s been great to get to know the passionate team at Lumo. Understandably they’re really keen to get behind us and to raise much needed funds in honour of their colleague Kieran. We’re proud to be Lumo’s charity partner for the year and wish the team well with the Three Peaks Challenge.”
Brainstrust is a UK-based brain tumour support charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by brain cancer. The organisation provides personalised support, builds practical resources, and champions better care to help patients and their loved ones navigate life after a brain tumour diagnosis. Through coaching, information services, and community engagement, Brainstrust empowers individuals to feel less alone and more in control during the most challenging times.
