Lumo searches for future railway stars ahead of new Scotland-London route

We have announced a number of exciting opportunities

Published 04 Nov 2025

Leading open access operator Lumo has announced a number of exciting opportunities to join its award-winning team, ahead of the launch of new daily services between London Euston and Stirling.

The expansion will enhance travel choice for customers in both Scotland and England, offering up to ten services per day Monday-Saturday and eight per day every Sunday, with an operator that’s renowned for being both affordable and reliable.

Lumo is offering the rare opportunity for Qualified Customer Drivers to join the team. Successful drivers will need to be passionate about creating a safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable experience for customers and colleagues.

The popular low-cost operator is also searching for four talented Customer Experience Team Managers. Based in Preston, London Euston and Stirling, the roles are for those who have a strong sense of pride about creating an excellent experience for customers onboard, as Lumo revolutionises the railways.

Lumo currently operates popular services on the East Coast Main Line between Edinburgh, Newcastle and London, operating 100 per cent electric trains. It’s also set to extend its route to and from Glasgow from December this year, boosting connectivity for Scotland.

Lindsay Gauntlett, People and Culture Manager at Lumo, said: “We’re thrilled to launch this rare opportunity to join the wider Lumo team, as part of our brand new service connecting London Euston and Stirling. This is a chance to be part of an organisation that’s passionate about supporting the customers and communities we serve.

“We’re proud to champion inclusivity and encourage new talent to consider joining the industry. As of last year, 95% of our operational workforce had been part of our apprentice programme in partnership with Train’d Up. During the past three years, 29 women have completed the training compared to 27 men.

Lumo was recently awarded the Clear Assured Bronze Standard, a globally-recognised standard that’s awarded to businesses which can demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

Customer Driver roles are being advertised with a salary of £71,529 and Customer Experience Team Manager roles at £49,472.
