Lumo has unveiled a special design to celebrate the launch of new Smurfs film

The popular open access operator Lumo has unveiled an eye-catching design on one of its all-electric trains, to celebrate the launch of the new Smurfs film from Paramount Animation.

The iconic new design was celebrated at a special event at London King’s Cross Station. The all-star guest list included Rylan, who plays ‘Vanity Smurf’ in the upcoming film which is released on July 18.

As part of a partnership with Paramount Pictures, a carriage of VIP guests then travelled on the newly designed train to Edinburgh for a Smurfs themed day out in the Scotland.

The Smurfs are widely known for promoting sustainability, something that Lumo is also passionate about. Lumo is the first operator with fully electric trains on all of its journeys, making it a staggering 25 times cleaner than flying.

The upcoming film is directed by Chris Miller and written by Pam Brady, with a star-studded cast that includes Rihanna and James Corden. The highly anticipated comedy is set to be a hit with families this summer.

The newly designed train is now in regular service, providing affordable and stylish train travel for customers between Edinburgh, Morpeth, Newcastle, Stevenage and London King’s Cross.

Stuart Jones, Managing Director of Lumo, said: “Everyone at Lumo is very excited to be working with Paramount Pictures to spread the word about the brilliant new Smurfs movie.

“The Smurfs are well known for promoting sustainability and we’re proud to be green at heart as a company too. That, coupled with their iconic blue colour, made this the perfect partnership. I’m delighted with our new ‘Smurfs train’ and can’t wait for everyone to enjoy spotting it along our route this summer.”
